About Wale

Founder, engineer, builder.

I'm Wale Opakunle. I build technology that puts people at the centre.

My first real love was AI. Back in university in Nigeria, I was studying electrical engineering, but I spent most of my time reading machine learning papers and running experiments with whatever compute I could get my hands on. Eventually I realised I needed software engineering to turn those ideas into products real people could use. So I taught myself to code, not because I had to, but because I wanted to ship.

That path led me from Lagos to the UK, from electronics to software, and from ideas to products people actually rely on.

What I do

I founded Hepteract Group, a technology holding company that spans AI, infrastructure, media, and design.

Within that umbrella, I'm building Povotra, an AI-powered skill development platform, and PeaDF, a professional-grade PDF editor that's accessible to everyone.

I also host The Synapse Times, a show about AI in Africa featuring builders, policymakers, and investors who are shaping the continent's technology future.

What I believe

I believe AI's job is to amplify people, not replace them. Every product I build starts from that premise.

I believe the best technology disappears into the background and quietly makes life better. If you have to think about the tool instead of the work, the tool has failed.

Technology should enrich people's lives, respect the natural world, and help us do extraordinary things together.

Get in touch

I'm always open to good conversations. Whether you want to collaborate on a project, invite me to speak, discuss a consulting engagement, or just say hello, reach out.
